Willow Basket-Making Workshop at Glynhynod Farm

Come and learn the traditional craft of willow basket-making in the beautiful surroundings of Glynhynod Farm, home of Caws Teifi Cheese and Da Mhile Distillery.

In this hands-on workshop you will make your own stake and strand berry basket – perfect for collecting berries, eggs, or for general foraging. Guided step-by-step, you’ll learn a range of core basket-making techniques that will give you a solid foundation and the confidence to continue weaving at home.

This course is suitable for complete beginners, as well as those with some experience who would like to develop their skills and deepen their understanding of this heritage craft.

All materials are provided, using a mixture of willow sourced from Somerset and willow grown in the tutor’s own coppice in Pembrokeshire.

About the tutor


Emma is a willow basket maker based near Cardigan in West Wales. With a background in low-impact woodland management and ecology, she began weaving with willow in 2014.

She now manages her own willow coppice in Pembrokeshire and loves being able to create functional, beautiful baskets from materials she grows herself. Keeping this traditional craft alive, and sharing these skills with others, is an important and inspiring part of her work.

Workshop Schedule


The day begins at 10 am with coffee, tea & cake in our gallery, followed by a short presentation of the basket-making process from Emma.

At 10.30 am, the course commences.

At 1 pm we will break for with a homemade lunch.

The day concludes at 5 pm with your finished beautiful Berry Basket.

Timings: All courses start and end times are approximate and may be adjusted by up to one hour if necessary. Participants will be notified of any changes in advance where possible.
